Full-time Contract Position – Edwards, CA

The Position
As an A&P Mechanic III, you will play a vital role in ensuring aircraft safety, reliability, and performance. This position involves performing advanced repairs, replacements, and preventative maintenance on critical airframe and power plant systems. You will inspect, test, and troubleshoot mechanical components, identify defects, and complete all maintenance in accordance with FAA and international aviation standards. Using precision tools and diagnostic equipment, you’ll ensure every aircraft meets strict operational and safety requirements. This role requires a strong understanding of airframe maintenance, power plant mechanics, and A&P systems, along with a commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient hangar environment.
Duties & Responsibilities

Perform aircraft repairs, replacements, and maintenance on airframe, power plant, and A&P components

Conduct inspections and functional checks of mechanical and structural aircraft systems

Diagnose, test, and troubleshoot defective or faulty parts using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment

Ensure compliance with FAA regulations and international aviation maintenance standards

Document all maintenance activities accurately in maintenance logs and inspection records

Maintain safety, organization, and cleanliness within the hangar or workshop environment

Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently

Follow manufacturer manuals, schematics, and safety protocols during all repair and maintenance operations
-
Stay updated on aviation maintenance best practices and continuously improve technical skills

Skills & Qualifications
-
High school diploma or GED equivalent and at typically 5 or more years of relevant experience

A higher level degree may substitute for experience

Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education

Active, current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant certification with no prior FAA violations
-
Must have reliable transportation to and from work locations
-
Must have own tools in good working order

Ability to speak, read and write in English

Pass and maintain Class 3 Physical requirements, including a hearing test

Ability to understand and interpret applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications

Advanced skills in repairing, maintaining and/or troubleshooting aircraft airframes and engines
Preferred Experience
-
FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience

Able to travel on a regular basis and/or work different shifts including overtime and weekends

Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS)

Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military
-
Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required

Compensation

Position offers an hourly W2 Rate between $35 - $45, with additional benefits
