The Position

The Avionics Technician IV is a senior-level technical role responsible for performing advanced avionics maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting in accordance with FAA, FCC, and industry regulations. This position supports aviation operations by ensuring aircraft avionics systems function safely, reliably, and efficiently. Working onsite in Hagerstown, MD, the technician will handle moderately complex avionics installations, wiring, and repairs while maintaining test equipment and documentation.

 

The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on avionics experience, strong technical interpretation skills, and a background in aerospace, defense, or military environments. This role is safety-sensitive and may require eligibility for a security clearance, making it ideal for seasoned avionics professionals seeking a long-term contract opportunity in the aerospace and defense sector.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform avionics maintenance in compliance with FCC, FAA, and company regulations

  • Install, test, troubleshoot, and repair moderately complex avionics systems and components

  • Interpret and apply technical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and manuals

  • Route, install, repair, solder, and crimp avionics wiring according to technical drawings

  • Maintain and properly use avionics test equipment, tools, and technical documentation

  • Inspect aircraft systems, structures, equipment, and vehicles to ensure safety and compliance

  • Operate or supervise the use of vehicles, heavy equipment, or specialized avionics machinery

  • Handle and inspect hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols

  • Work in safety-sensitive environments while ensuring the protection of people and property

  • Mentor and guide junior technicians as needed (preferred)

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • No immediate direct reports

​

Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience

  • A higher-level degree may substitute for experience

  • Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education 

  • Must have own tools in good working order 

  • Ability to understand and interpret moderately complex, technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications

  • Ability to route wires per technical drawings 

  • Advanced skills with moderately complex avionics installation tooling, wiring, wiring repair, wiring installation, soldering' and crimping techniques

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with FCC and FCC GROL

  • Ability to mentor and guide team

  • Basic understanding of spectrometer, Oscilloscope and/or Pitot static equipment 

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required

Work Environment

  • On-site position located in Hagerstown, Maryland

  • This is a 1-year contract

​

Compensation

  • Position offers an hourly W2 Rate between $40 - $48, with additional benefits â€‹

Requirements

  • Because this client is a Federal Government Contractor performing services for the DoD, US Air Force, NASA and others, they do require US, Non-Dual Citizenship
