Data Architect – KAGR

Full-time Position

The Data Architect will help lead and design the data platform, data pipeline and system integrations. This role will evaluate the current systems, identify improvements, and make recommendations for new technologies necessary for business success. Additionally, this role will drive design based on evolving business needs and requirements, while ensuring technical excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • System Architecture and Design
    • Expert in cloud-based data warehouse architecture, including technology systems, server setup, and configuration
    • Experience with various types of data-based systems (e.g. columnar and relational databases and ETL tools
    • Strong ability to architect and administer database, ETL, and visualization platforms
      • Ability to identify and design the implementation of new systems while maintaining existing systems and processes
    • Performance and Scalability Monitoring
      • Expert in monitoring usage of resources by specific systems
      • Strong ability to plan resources and system upgrades based on future use
    • Ability to take complex data requirements and create a clear path of delivery
      • Strong understanding of various cloud-based data platforms
      • Data Management & Integration
        • Expert in integrating data from many disparate systems
        • Ability to translate data structure in various systems (API’s, databases, data stores) and transform as needed to meet business and project needs
        • Identify and manage complex integrations ranging from batch integration to near real time
    • Advanced knowledge of various data formats and storage
      • Clearly define and document data formats in use by potential data systems that may be integrated and impact of the data
    • Master Data Management
      • Expert in planning, creating, executing, and documenting master data management and data governance practices
      • Custom Programming and Development
        • Strong Java programming or relevant language skills
        • Strong understanding of programming principles and best practices
        • Ability to create reusable solutions and processes
    • Strong ability to create custom applications to solve data needs
      • Identify areas where custom applications could benefit the business
      • Integrate new code into existing application to extend capabilities

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Skills & Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred, or relevant experience in quantitative discipline
    • 6 Years of experience in Data Architecture relating specifically to Data platforms and technologies
    • 3 Years of experience in using AWS or similar cloud platform to architect systems and solutions
    • 3 Years of experience with Java or other programming language
    • Expert in SQL, both querying and administering database systems
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts in easy-to-understand language
    • Strong Agile development experience
    • Ability to meet deadlines without losing attention to detail
    • Excellent organizational skills, self-motivated and proactive
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

    • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computing equipment
