The Position

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, and optimize production processes for advanced special mission aircraft and ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) platforms. You’ll play a key role in bringing next-generation aerospace technologies to life—applying cutting-edge manufacturing methods, ensuring top-tier quality, and driving continuous improvement across the full product lifecycle. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, test, and improve advanced aerospace manufacturing processes and systems 

  • Collaborate with design, quality, and production teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective manufacturing 

  • Review engineering designs for producibility and lead implementation from concept to completion

  • Develop tooling, fixtures, work instructions, and production procedures

  • Apply manufacturing technologies and best practices to enhance product performance and reliability

  • Support new product introductions and transition designs into production

  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) processes for non-conformance dispositions

  • Interface with vendors for external tooling fabrication

  • Engage directly with shop floor personnel during all project phases

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • No immediate direct reports

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline with 6+ years of relevant experience (advanced degrees may substitute) 

  • Experience in the aerospace and defense industry 

  • Proficiency with CATIA CAD software for tool design and drawings

  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5

  • Familiarity with PLM, MES, and MRP systems

  • Knowledge of CNC programming, machining, and manufacturing processes

  • Experience developing work instructions and process documentation

  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary engineering teams

  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with aircraft modification and system integration 

  • Background in new product introduction (NPI) and production transitions

  • Understanding of parametric and model-based design principles

  • Hands-on experience with tooling fabrication and vendor management

  • Familiarity with manufacturing resource planning and continuous improvement methodologies

Work Environment

  • On-site position located in Hagerstown, Maryland

  • This is a 6-month contract 

Compensation

  • Position offers an hourly W2 Rate between $45 - $55, with additional benefits 

Requirements

  • Because this client is a Federal Government Contractor performing services for the DoD, US Air Force, NASA and others, they do require US, Non-Dual Citizenship
