The Position
The Planner I role supports the coordination and execution of production planning and material flow to ensure efficient manufacturing operations. This entry-level position assists in scheduling raw materials, components, and finished goods throughout the production lifecycle while helping implement the master production plan within material management systems.
The ideal candidate has foundational knowledge of supply chain or operations management principles, strong organizational skills, and familiarity with technical documentation. This role provides hands-on exposure to production planning, material requirements planning (MRP), and cross-functional collaboration within a structured manufacturing environment, ideally within aerospace and defense settings.
Duties & Responsibilities

Assist in planning and scheduling the movement of raw materials, components, packaging, supplies, and finished goods through production and inventory processes

Support execution of the master production plan within the material management system

Monitor material flow to ensure efficient and controlled production operations

Track production performance and identify material shortages or deficiencies

Assist in troubleshooting scheduling conflicts and supply chain disruptions

Support engineering change implementation and material updates

Maintain accurate documentation related to inventory, production schedules, and materials planning

Collaborate cross-functionally with production, engineering, procurement, and logistics teams
Supervisory Responsibilities

Skills & Qualifications
-
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics or related field of study and typically 0-2 years of relevant experience

A higher level degree may substitute for experience

Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education

Exposure to the engineering change process

Basic understanding of master production planning

Familiarity with applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications
Preferred Experience
-
Experience in Supply Chain Management and /or Operations Management

Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFAR)

Understanding of Unified Commercial Code (UCC)

Prior experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and /or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems

Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military
Work Environment

This is a 7-month contract to hire
Compensation

Position offers an hourly W2 Rate between $25 - $30, with additional benefits
