The Position The Electrical Engineer III will serve as an Instrumentation Specialist, focusing in designing and integrating electrical and mechanical systems for aircraft applications. This role is crucial in supporting data collection required for FAA/MIL certification compliance. The Electrical Engineer will ensure adherence to NIST calibration standards, overseeing the calibration and verification of measurements and maintaining accurate documentation and control of all calibrations.
Additionally, this position involves supporting both hardware and software requirements for data acquisition systems and the IADS (Integrated Aircraft Data Systems) real-time display. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of aviation systems, data acquisition, and instrumentation to ensure high-quality performance and compliance with industry standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
Demonstrate familiarity with key communication protocols, including Ethernet, 1553, ARINC 429, and CAN bus, essential for avionics and aerospace systems
Perform detailed functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate instrumentation requirements into robust hardware and software specifications
Lead the development, modification, and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for both hardware and system design to ensure streamlined and compliant engineering processes
Understand, plan, and execute technical activities in full alignment with company policies, work instructions, and specific customer requirements, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance
Take initiative in problem-solving for new product designs and improvements to existing products, driving innovation and continuous improvement
Lead engineering design and development activities that meet customer quality, cost, and schedule requirements
Actively participate in design integration, ensuring that industry standards are consistently met throughout the product development lifecycle
Maintain comprehensive logs and manuals to ensure the accurate documentation of testing and operation of equipment
Serve as a key technical liaison to the Engineering Manager, providing expertise, feedback, and technical support for projects and initiatives

Skills & Qualifications
Ability to perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, and trade studies to optimize system designs
Skilled in engineering design, development, and integration processes to create high-performance systems
Expertise in developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for hardware and system design, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and internal guidelines
Proficient in project planning, execution, and ensuring that technical activities are completed on time and in accordance with quality, cost, and schedule requirements
Strong leadership capabilities to guide and mentor junior engineers
Keen attention to detail to ensure high-quality outputs, compliance with NIST calibration standards, and reliable performance of all systems
Work Environment
On-site position located in Vandalia, Ohio
Compensation
Position offers an hourly W2 Rate between $60-$70, with additional benefits
