Structural Technician III
Full-time Contract Position – Colorado Springs, CO

The Position
The Structural Technician III is responsible for precision assembly, modification, and repair of aerospace structural components in accordance with engineering specifications and quality standards. This role involves aligning and fitting parts, installing fasteners, performing minor fabrication and refinishing tasks, and verifying dimensional accuracy using calibrated measuring tools. Working from technical drawings and schematics, the technician ensures structural integrity and compliance while implementing engineering changes as needed. Operating in a safety-sensitive aviation environment, the Structural Technician III plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, airworthy aerospace assemblies.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assemble major structural components and perform minor part-fitting operations (filing, sawing, burring, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, reaming)

Align and position parts on jigs and aerospace structures using templates and fixtures

Measure and verify dimensions using precision tools such as micrometers and calipers

Interpret technical schematics, blueprints, manuals, and engineering drawings
-
Install structural fasteners including rivets and hi-locks while maintaining proper edge distance and pitch
-
Modify incomplete or completed assemblies and incorporate engineering changes

Perform structural repairs and refinishing, including corrosion removal as applicable

Monitor and verify quality using statistical process control and inspection procedures

Maintain personal tools in proper working condition and adhere to safety standards

Support aviation-related operations in a safety-sensitive environment

Skills & Qualifications
-
High school diploma or GED equivalent and typically 5 or more years of relevant experience

A higher-level degree may substitute for experience
-
Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education

Must have/own tools in good working order

Ability to understand and interpret applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications
-
Ability to complete installations per technical drawings while maintaining edge distance and pitch
-
Progressive experience with structure assembly, minor part fitting techniques and repair and refinishing such as airframe corrosion removal, as applicable
-
Ability to install various fasteners such as rivets and hi-locks

Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, NASA or US Military

Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required

Compensation

Position offers an hourly W2 Rate between $35 - $45, with additional benefits ​
