Full-time Contract Position – Hagerstown, MD

The Position
As a Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and improving advanced aerospace systems. This position involves researching, architecting, modeling, simulating, testing, and certifying complex products from concept to completion. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and refine system architectures, ensure seamless integration and verification, and drive innovation throughout the product lifecycle. Using cutting-edge tools and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methods, you’ll help deliver reliable, high-performance solutions that meet aerospace and defense industry standards.
Duties & Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize system architectures for complex aerospace and defense products

Model, simulate, and test systems to validate performance, reliability, and compliance with requirements

Oversee system-level ownership across the entire product lifecycle—from concept through design, integration, and testing

Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration and performance

Manage requirements through parsing, derivation, and allocation to ensure alignment with project goals

Identify and mitigate technical risks through proactive analysis and engineering best practices

Support Verification and Validation (V&V) activities to ensure products meet all specifications and safety standards

Utilize requirements management and system modeling tools such as DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, or MATLAB

Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to improve design efficiency and traceability

Maintain detailed technical documentation and performance metrics throughout the development process

Skills & Qualifications
-
Bachelor's of Science degree in Systems Engineering or related discipline and typically 2 or more years of relevant experience

Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices

Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams

Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles
Preferred Experience
-
Experience with requirements management and system modelling tools, such as DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, MATLAB

Knowledge of industry standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to requirements management, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)

Experience or certification in INCOSE standards

Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry

Exposure to baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of high impact trade studies and other measures

Understanding of establishing and tracking key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM)

Compensation
-
Position offers an hourly W2 Rate between $45 - $55, with additional benefits
