The Position

The Technical Quality Assurance Inspector performs precision inspections of aerospace components and assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, electrical design requirements, and industry quality standards. Utilizing calibrated inspection tools—including portable CMM systems such as the ROMER Arm with PolyWorks Inspector—the inspector verifies dimensional accuracy, wiring integrity, and overall product conformity. 

 

This role supports AS9100-regulated quality systems by documenting non-conformances, assisting with AS9102 First Article Inspection reporting, and contributing to root cause and corrective action initiatives. Working collaboratively with engineering and production teams, the inspector plays a key role in maintaining quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement within aviation and defense manufacturing environments.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections of components and assemblies using calibrated inspection aids and metrology equipment, including a ROMER Arm supported with PolyWorks Inspector software

  • Verify product quality and conformance to engineering drawings, technical schematics, and documentation

  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 quality standards and internal procedures

  • Interpret and review technical documentation, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and specifications

  • Inspect electrical wiring, harnesses, and assemblies for compliance with design and safety requirements

  • Accurately document inspection results, non-conformances, and support root cause analysis for quality issues

  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve quality concerns and drive continuous improvement

  • Participate in internal and external audits as needed

  • No immediate direct reports

Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred

  • Typically 5 or more years of relevant experience 

  • Higher education may substitute for relevant experience Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in quality inspection within aviation, aerospace, or defense manufacturing

  • Proficient ability to understand and interpret technical schematics and documents In-depth understanding of electrical wiring concepts and assembly practices

  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical schematics, engineering drawings, and electrical wiring diagrams

  • Proficient in using inspection tools, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and portable CMMs (ROMER Arm)

  • Excellent attention to detail, recordkeeping, and organizational skills

  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Products

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience in aviation or defense-related manufacturing environments

  • Knowledge and ability to interpret GD&T

  • Familiarity with IPC-WMHA-A-620 or other industry-specific quality standards

  • Creating FAIRs in accordance with AS9102 

  • Experience working in FAA Part 145 Repair Station environment preferred

  • Experience with FAA PMA and/or Conformity Inspection 

  • Experience supporting quality audits and root cause/corrective action processes

  • Working knowledge of ISO 9000 and AS 9100 quality management standards

  • Experience working with DCMA and exposure to 8210.1D

Work Environment

  • On-site position located in Hagerstown, Maryland

  • This is a 1-year contract

​

Compensation

  • Position offers an hourly W2 Rate between $30 - $40, with additional benefits â€‹

​

Requirements

  • Because this client is a Federal Government Contractor performing services for the DoD, US Air Force, NASA and others, they do require US, Non-Dual Citizenship
